Neil Lomax was one of the most prolific passers in NCAA history
during his four years at Portland
State University (1977-80). At one time he held over 90 NCAA
Division I-AA records and is still the only quarterback
to throw seven TDs in one quarter! Portland State went on to
win that night 105-0 over Delaware State with Lomax throwing
for eight touchdowns and only playing the first half. In that
same season he threw for more than 4,000 yards and 37 touchdowns
and was MVP of the 1981 Senior Bowl and finished seventh in the
Heisman Trophy balloting. (See PSU stats).
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications,
he was drafted as the second quarterback overall by the St. Louis
Cardinals in 1981. In his ten year NFL career Neil earned All-Pro
honors in 1984 and 1987. His 82.7 career passing rating ranks
him 7th all-time in the NFL and still holds almost every season
and game passing record with the Cardinals. (See
NFL stats). Because of chronic hip problems, Neil retired
in 1990 and had total hip replacement surgery the following year.
In 1996, Neil was elected to the National
Football Foundation College Hall of Fame for his outstanding
record at Portland State. This was the first Class 1-AA induction
for small colleges and included greats such as Terry Bradshaw
and Walter Peyton.
Portland, Oregon is where Neil and Laurie Lomax call home.
They have three sons Nick, Jack, Mitch, and daughter Ali.
(See Family). Neil
is President of ProMax Event Management Team
and ProPrint. ProMax is a sports management
company that operates the Neil
Lomax Quarterback Shootout, Les

All net proceeds from many ProMax events benefit Northwest Schools, and local charities
like Young Life and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
In addition to his business, Neil is involved with several
charitable organizations. He serves as National Board member
for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In addition to FCA
duties, Young Life, Portland Rescue Mission and being a board
member for Portland Bottling Company occupy his time. Golf is
his passion as he continues to improve on a three handicap. Neil
plays in Pro-Am events all across the country and is a member
of the Celebrity Players Tour - which includes its
Championship
held in Lake Tahoe and televised on NBC. Neil's long term goal
is to play on the Senior PGA Tour after he raises his children
or turns 50...which ever comes first.
