2002 Carson Palmer USC Quarterback Carson Palmer is the fifth winner from USC, joining Allen (1981), Charles White (1979), O.J. Simpson (1968) and Mike Garrett (1965)...and the first USC QB to win. A 6-foot-5, 220-pound senior, Palmer completed 63 percent of his passes for 3,639 yards and 32 touchdowns with 10 interceptions this year, leading USC (10-2) to the Orange Bowl against Iowa. His Trojans ended the season rocking Notre Dame 44-13 behind his 425 passing yards and four touchdowns. Palmer passed for 7,876 yards in three-plus seasons with 39 interceptions and 39 TD passes. USC was 26-18 in games he started. He is the 2002 Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year and won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as the nation's top senior quarterback. He also threw 147 straight passes without an interception in 2002.
