THE HEISMAN MEMORIAL TROPHY

1960 Joe Bellino Navy Halfback Joe Bellino, at 5'9" and 181 pounds, gained 834 yards in the 1960 season. He completed 5 of 14 passes, two for touchdowns, caught 15 passes for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns. He returned 5 punts for 97 yards and 11 kickoffs for 240 yards. Joe was signed by the Boston Patriots and played for three seasons. In 1968 he was traded to the Cincinatti Bengals, but retired rather than move his family. In 1967 Joe started a food-service company, and is now Regional Manager of UB Vehicle Leasing. Bellino served over 28 years in the Navy and Naval Reserve, holding the rank of Captain USNR (Ret.). Joe and wife Ann have 2 children. Elected to the NFF&C Hall of Fame in 1977.
