Vessels scored 18 touchdowns, gained over 1000 yards rushing and caught 8 passes for 200 yards. In his senior year, he threw 18 passes, completing 7 for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns. Against the Irish, he ran 195 yards on 17 caries for 11.5 yards/carry. In 1953 Billy turned pro for the Edmonton Eskimos and won the Schenley Award as top player in Canada. Then Billy served in the Army. He moved to Florida and became assistant to the president of Mackle Company (real estate). Billy served on President Kennedy's Physical Fitness Program for 2 years. He is married with 3 children and resides in Coral Gables, Florida. Elected to the NFF&C Hall of Fame in 1974.
