Vic
Janowicz
Ohio State
Halfback
The late Woody Hays said "He was not only a great runner but also passed, was place kicker and punter, played safety, and was an outstanding blocker." After a stint in the service, Janowicz signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates as catcher. He returned to football in 1954 with the Redskins, playing defensive back and leading the league in scoring. A near-fatal auto accident ended his football career in 1956. Vic was an Administrative Assistant to the Ohio State Auditor. In 1991, he was honored as "the greatest OSU athlete of the last 50 years." Vic passed away in February of 1996. Elected to the NFF&C Hall of Fame in 1976.
