Walker was a junior when he won the Heisman Trophy, and was a 3-year All-American. He scored 303 points in 35 games on 40 touchdowns, 60 PATs, and one field goal. Doak gained 3500 yards rushing and passing. Walker went to Detroit where he played for six seasons, leading the league in rushing his best year. He retired from pro football and joined George A. Fuller Co. in Denver. He later formed his own company, Walker Chemical. He served as Vice President of Fishbach & Moore (electrical contractors). Doak, retired, married former Olympic skier Skeeter Werner and they have four children. Elected to NFF&C Hall of Fame in 1959.
