John is considered one of the greatest T-formation collegiate quarterbacks of all time. He gained 2080 yards in 3 seasons (1943, 1946 & 1947) and 144 completions out of 282, and the Irish were National Champions all three years. After graduation, Lujack went to the Chicago Bears and played 4 years, he was All-Pro in 1948 and 1950. He set an NFL passing record of 468 yards and 6 touchdowns in a single game. In 1954 he retired from the NFL and became a Chevy Dealer. Currently retired, he lives in Davenport, Iowa (summer) and Indian Wells, California (winter). Elected to the NFF&C Hall of Fame in 1960.
