All-American for two years, the 6-foot 205-pound "Mr. Inside" scored 38 touchdowns and gained 1908 yards in 3 seasons. He ran the 100 in 10 seconds flat. His first game, he averaged 58 yards on kickoffs, punted for 40 yards, carried 4 times for 4.5 average. He was the first junior to win the Heisman Trophy. After graduation, Blanchard had a career in the Army Air Force, retiring as Colonel. He retired in Texas to hunt and fish. Elected to the NFF&C Hall of Fame in 1959.
