In three seasons, "old ninety-eight" scored 33 touchdowns, kicked two FGs and 33 PATs, and threw 16 TD passes. He gained 3438 yards as a 193-pound power back. A 4-year stint as a pilot in WWII won him the Silver Star and Purple Heart. He married actress Elyse Knox and played for the LA Rams in 1946-7. In 1949, he became Sports Director of the Columbia Pacific Network with daily radio and TV shows. Tom reported live on major sporting events for CBS, ABC, and NBC...just a fraction of his 10,000 broadcasts. Tom passed away in March, 1990. Elected to the NFF&C Hall of Fame in 1954.
